Agriculture to Appetites

  • Ashurst Auditorium 624 Knoles Drive Flagstaff, AZ, 86001 United States (map)

Northern Arizona has a rich agricultural history, but producing and selling crops, livestock, and other agricultural products in the region remains challenging. Resources such as water are scarce in many places, regulations prohibit some kinds of innovative stewardship, and marketing efforts to connect producers to consumers sometimes fall short. Growing our regional food system would be good for farmers, ranchers, and consumers, for community health, local economies, and the preservation of open space—but how do we get there?

To answer that question, a coalition of organizations are hosting “Agriculture to Appetites: Strengthening Food Connections in a Changing Arizona.” This three-part series of presentations and discussions will provide a forum for exploring local and regional food systems. It will explore problems and solutions and link growers to consumers. These events are designed as a community roundtable for producers and eaters.
